Colburn School of Music Vox Femina Los Angeles is proud to host its First Annual Women's Choral Festival. The festival will be run in the clinic style with each ensemble receiving twenty minutes onstage to perform and work with the host and clinician Dr. Iris Levine, Artistic Director of Vox Femina Los Angeles. The festival will feature participating groups from High School, College, and Community Women's Ensembles. The day's events will culminate with a performance by the women of Vox Femina Los Angeles.

In order to take part in this wonderful event, you must register your ensemble AND pay your registration fee by January 30, 2010. Space is limited, so choruses will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

EVENT INFORMATION
Date: Saturday, March 20, 2010
Time: 12:30pm - 4:30pm
Location: Zipper Concert Hall, Colburn School of Music
200 S. Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA (Across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall)

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY
12:30 - 1:45pm: Assigned on stage warm-up times (10 min/ensemble)
2:00pm: Festival begins
4:15pm: Performance by Vox Femina Los Angeles

The days' events will begin with individual choir warm-ups starting at 12:30pm. Each ensemble will receive a 10-minute warm-up on stage in the Zipper Concert Hall and the festival is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.

Once the festival begins each ensemble will receive 20 minutes onstage to perform and work with the host and clinician Dr. Iris Levine (10 minutes to perform and 10 minutes of on stage clinic work).

To end the festival, the women of Vox Femina Los Angeles will perform a short set of music from their concert at 8:00pm, Sister, My Sister.

The concert, Sister, My Sister explores the uniqueness of women's communities over hundreds of years and the music written for them. This performance will feature a newly commissioned work by Roger Bourland set to the poetry of Los Angeles poet, Eloise Klein Healy. Vox will truly "give women voice" singing the music of Hildegard von Bingen, Clara Schumann, Gwyneth Walker, Rosephanye Powell and more. Special group rates are available for festival attendees.
